The Coolest Penguin Card

This adorable penguin stamp is from My Favorite Things Penguins in Paradise set (MFT). At my house we love penguins but don't love snow so penguins in a tropical setting is pretty perfect!

I mostly used nuvo alcohol markers (S) to color the stamped images. I used a yellow copic marker (HL) for the lemonade.

In my stash I found a piece of Recollections paper that was already shaded how I wanted it to be, and I used an MFT's Arches Stax die to cut it.

I used my Scan-n-Cut 2 to cut the stamped images as well as the black arched outline behind the beachy background.

I used my new Brutus Monroe embossing ink (BM) and powder (BM/MMI) for the sentiment. I do love the color and how it embossed. The powder itself melted smoothly and evenly. I would buy more colors. I also love the embossing ink. I do not like super sticky embossing inks that glob up the stamp so this is by far my favorite of any embossing inks I've tried.

However, I must need different, less "sticky" paper. When we talked to Christopher at the Akron convention he said the powder shouldn't stick, but it definitely sticks to my paper. While it's not a textured cardstock neither is it a super smooth cardstock. I'm guessing that is why I'm not having the same results. I did use my anti-static pouch on it before I tried embossing it.

I cut a piece of black cardstock to A2 size and cut a sheet Pebbles Basics (HL) chevron paper slightly less than that. I adhered those to a white card base. I mounted the arched beach scene on craft foam and then adhered it along with the sentiment strip to my card.

I found out that penguins are not as easy to shade as I had assumed. Just because they are just grey to black shades did not make it easy! After messing up two others, I am happy with the results of these.

Blessings,

Julie
