Deep Waters - Isaiah 43:2

These cards are easy to make. The distressing and construction take a little bit of time but it's well worth the effort.

My starting inspirations were the Isaiah 43:2 stamp (Psalms of the Sea by Technique Junkies) and ships paper (Transatlantic Travel by Carta Bella). In searching for coordinating paper I found the compass paper (Nautical Collection by Our Daily Bread Designs) and loved it with this stamp.

Steps for making the cards:

1. Cut patterned paper to 4" x 5 1/4" and edge with distress ink.

2. Cut strips of map papers to 1 1/2" x 4". I used paper from Uncharted by the Paper Studio and World Traveler by Teresa Collins. Distress and ink the edges.

3. Stamp the verse on coordinating paper. Deckle cut the edges and shade with distress ink if necessary.

4. Cut a contrasting layer at 1/4" larger than the sentiment, edge with distress ink.

5. Glue the sentiment and contrasting layers together.

6. Glue the map strip to the patterned paper and then glue the sentiment piece on top. Add 3 brads on the sentiment piece. Add the compass coin and attach with a long brad.

7. Cut coordinating layering cardstock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Edge or color as necessary. The diagonal paper was much lighter and didn't quite coordinate. I used distress ink to get it the shade I wanted. Adhere the patterned paper piece to this cardstock layer. Glue everything to an A2 card.

You can also use a coordinating A2 card instead of layering cardstock to avoid one layer. I prefer to have a buffer sheet between my brads and card base but it's not necessary.

Here are a couple of images of the individual cards.
