Praying for You - a Maymay stamp

I'm on a quest to actually use some of the 6 x 6 paper that I have bought over the years instead of just looking at it and thinking how pretty it is ;-D This card is a small part of my project.

I started by stamping the sentiment from Maymay's 'Jesus Loves You' stamp set (MMI) with Versafine onyx black ink (MMI/MP) on a leftover piece of the paper I inked for my Let Us Rejoice card (I used fossilized amber, wild honey and worn lipstick Distress Oxide ink.)

To make the flag banner, I used my Tim Holtz micro snips (MMI/S/MP) to make a cut down the middle, then cut from each corner to the middle. I need practice, because instead of just three snips it took five or six, but it did work, eventually! I edged the sentiment with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink. (MMI/S/MP) The pink edging was just to add a little depth.

I have found when I am creating inked backgrounds to use for my sentiments it's helpful to gather a few different patterned papers I will be able to use that background for. Even though the patterned papers came from two different paper packs they both had similar yellow and pink tones that went well with the background I created. Bonus - I also have some of that paper left over to use on another project.

The floral patterned paper came from Fancy Pants, 'Summer Sun' 6 x 6" paper pad. I used Spellbinders 'Card Creator A2 Bracket Borders One' for the edges of the floral and black cardstock. The pink paper, with friend words, is from DCWV 'Everyday Essentials' 8 1/2" x 11" paper pad. My mother and I found this pack at Pat Catan's. If I recall correctly, Pat Catan's stores are mostly located in Ohio. It's one of my favorite places to shop for crafts when I am "home". They have great prices on papercrafting supplies.

My finishing touches were edging the card with Black Oxide Ink and adding perfectly matching gemstones. Wow, were those gemstones ever hard to get in place. They stuck to my fingers, my craft mat, my Quickstik (MMI/S) - pretty much everywhere but where I wanted them to stick! I used white heavyweight card stock for my A2 size card base.

I love the way this card came together. I think it will be a cheerful but encouraging way to let someone know they are being prayed for.

Blessings,

Julie
